How long does it take to charge an electric car?
Charging a Škoda electric car can take anywhere from about 30 minutes on a rapid charger to around 6–8 hours using a home wall box. It depends on the charger you use and how full the battery already is.
How much does it cost to charge an electric car?
It depends where you charge it. At home, a full charge for an average electric car usually costs about £15–£17. Using public rapid chargers can cost more, sometimes around £20–£40 for a full charge, depending on the speed and provider.

You can find your nearest charging point by using a free app or online map such as the Škoda Powerpass Map. This shows thousands of chargers across the UK and Europe and lets you search by location, charger type, and availability.
Do electric cars need an MOT?
Yes, just like petrol or diesel cars, electric cars need an MOT once they’re three years old.
How do electric cars work?
Electric cars work by using a battery to power an electric motor, instead of a petrol engine. When you press the accelerator, electricity from the battery flows to the motor, which turns the wheels. The battery is recharged by plugging the car into a charging point.
Will I save money with an electric vehicle?
Yes – in many cases, you can save money with an electric vehicle, especially on day-to-day running costs. Charging at home is usually much cheaper than buying petrol. Electric cars also tend to need less
Can I charge my electric car in the rain?
Yes, you can absolutely charge your electric Škoda in the rain. The cars and their charging systems are designed to be completely safe, weatherproof, and to withstand rain, snow, and humidity.

What’s the difference between a BEV and a PHEV?
Put simply, a Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), which is sometimes just called an EV, is powered solely by an electric battery. Meanwhile, a Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) has both an electric motor and an internal combustion engine.
