ŠKODA’s new large SUV is to be called Kodiaq. The name refers to the Kodiak bear that lives on a remote island off the southern coast of Alaska. Its spelling is derived from the language of the indigenous people – the Alutiiq. ŠKODA will usher in a new SUV campaign with the introduction of the Kodiaq when it makes its public debut in the second half of 2016.

Mladá Boleslav, 6 May 2016 – Living alongside c.14,000 people on Kodiak Island – a harsh yet fascinating landscape located off the southern coast of Alaska (57°N 153°W) – are almost 3,500 Kodiak bears. The Alutiiq, the natives, call the bear Taq uka 'aq – the letter ‘q’ at the end is a characteristic of animal names. ŠKODA’s use of the letter ‘q’ creates a distinctive name for a very distinctive new ŠKODA.

At 4.70 metres long, ŠKODA’s new SUV can comfortably seat seven people and offers remarkable performance both on and off the beaten track. The hidden power of the Kodiaq can also be seen in its design – distinctive, muscular lines representing a dynamic, robust and strong appearence.

‘Discover new ground’ is the claim under which the Czech carmaker will be launching the ŠKODA Kodiaq. The model marks the beginning of the brand’s new SUV campaign, and will attract new consumer groups in the fast-growing SUV segment. The ŠKODA Kodiaq celebrates its public debut in the second half of 2016, with launch planned for early 2017.

Global demand for ŠKODA models continues to rise: In August, the Czech brand delivered 91,800 vehicles to customers, exceeding the previous year's result by 6.6% (August 2017: 86,100 vehicles). ŠKODA achieved particularly high growth rates in Russia (+33.5%) and China (+11.5%). Once again, the company also grew in Europe compared to the same period last year (+6.0%). The ŠKODA KAROQ, comprehensively modernised FABIA and the CITIGO achieved double-digit increases. The KODIAQ RS, KAROQ SCOUT and KAROQ SPORTLINE as well as the VISION RS concept study are celebrating their world premieres in Paris.
ŠKODA is revealing several details about its new KODIAQ RS ahead of the high-performance SUV’s official world premiere at the 2018 Paris Motor Show in October. In a video, ŠKODA is offering a preview of the car’s full-LED headlights, the virtual cockpit and the new Dynamic Sound Boost function, which accentuates the dynamic character of the ŠKODA KODIAQ RS with a meaty and even sportier sound.
The ŠKODA VISION RS gives an outlook on the future of the ŠKODA RS models. The design sketches offer a first impression of the concept study’s interior before the official world premiere at the Paris Motor Show in October. In addition, a video shows the innovative interior – with vegan and sustainably produced materials – taking shape in a Prague design studio.
With the debut of the ŠKODA VISION RS concept at the 2018 Paris Motor Show ŠKODA will provide a first glimpse of a future compact car while ringing in the next design phase for its sporting RS model range. Ahead of the world premiere in October, the Czech brand is releasing design sketches aimed at conveying a first impression of this dynamic concept car. In addition, a video illustrates how the ŠKODA VISION RS is taking shape in the design department headed by lead designer Oliver Stefani.
The new ŠKODA KODIAQ vRS will make its world premiere at the 2018 Paris Motor Show in October. The Czech brand has released the first two official pictures, offering a sneak preview of the first SUV in its vRS portfolio and a glance at the new vRS logo. The seven seat KODIAQ vRS is powered by a 239-PS TDI biturbo engine - the most powerful production diesel engine in ŠKODA’s history.
ŠKODA’s one millionth sports utility vehicle (SUV) has rolled off the production line. The milestone vehicle is a ŠKODA KAROQ with a metallic Emerald Green finish. The Czech manufacturer’s success story in the SUV segment began in 2009 with the launch of the ŠKODA YETI. Today, the KODIAQ and KAROQ SUV model lines are two of the most important drivers of growth for the company, and the SUV campaign is an integral part of the 2025 Strategy. Of the one million SUVs produced by ŠKODA to date, more than 100,000 have found homes with UK customers.
