Kodiaq hits the trophy trail as Top Gear Magazine announces its Best Cars in the World

​It may be a few more tantalising weeks before the new ŠKODA Kodiaq reaches British shores, but the acclaimed SUV has already secured its first key UK award – scooping the Best Car for Big Families accolade by Top Gear Magazine.

TopGear Magazine and website were so impressed with the new Kodiaq – ŠKODA’s first ever seven-seater – that they named it Best Family Car in the title’s Best Cars in the World issue. The Kodiaq saw off tough opposition to take the title, with the judging panel heaping praise on the new model’s design, practicality and incredible value for money.

TopGear Magazine said: "Minimising stress is at the heart of the Kodiaq’s mission. That’s what its versatility is all about, because you never fear it won’t ably put its shoulder to any task family life throws at it: fetching and carrying of people and stuff, hauling or going mildly off-road or defeating slippery roads. It’s reassuring and safe, but it manages to avoid tedium.”

The Kodiaq, along with the other category winners, appears in the January issue of TopGear Magazine that hits the newsstands from 30th November.

The Kodiaq will be available in 24 different variants when order books open on 1 December. The range comprises four trim levels; S, SE, SE L, and a new Edition grade that celebrates the car’s arrival.

Prices start from just £21,495 with the launch range featuring five engine options, two and four-wheel drive, and a choice of manual or DSG gearboxes. Among the many design highlights of the new Kodiaq are more than 30 Simply Clever features - seven of which are new. These include a number of family-friendly features such as electrically-activated child locks and special sleep headrests for rear seat passengers.

ŠKODA can look back on another record month: For the first time in its history, the Czech car manufacturer delivered more than 100,000 vehicles to customers in an April. With 107,100 vehicles, ŠKODA’s deliveries exceeded those of the same month last year by 10.1% (April 2017: 97,300 vehicles). In the world's largest sales market, China, the brand achieved an increase of 34%, and ŠKODA also achieved double digit growth in Eastern Europe and Russia. The SUV models KODIAQ (+164.4%) and KAROQ in particular made significant contributions to the success.
The ŠKODA Live Tour has racked up an impressive first year of results and the car manufacturer has announced that it will continue to explore new ways of using the technology. More than 2,000 online tours have been taken in the digital showroom, with three-quarters of users completely new customers to the brand.
ŠKODA has once again proved itself to be the brand to beat by dominating the 2018 DieselCar and EcoCar Top 50. The Czech brand was named as class winner in no fewer than four key categories and topped more sectors than any other manufacturer in the influential annual chart.
Motoring review site Honest John has named the ŠKODA KODIAQ its overall 2018 Car of the Year – adding another trophy to the Czech SUV’s remarkable collection. In addition to awarding the KODIAQ its highest honour, Honest John website visitors also named the SUPERB as its Family Car of the Year for the second year in succession.
ŠKODA AUTO continues its growth course. Never before has the Czech traditional brand achieved such a strong result in terms of sales revenue, deliveries and operating profit between January and March. The manufacturer delivered 316,700 vehicles worldwide (+ 11.7%). Operating profit increased by 5.3% to 437 million euros in the same period, while sales revenue increased by 4.9% to 4.5 billion euros.
ŠKODA owners can check the status of their car with just their voice thanks to the integration of ŠKODA Connect and Amazon’s Alexa virtual personal assistant. The technology works across all devices equipped with Alexa Voice Services and allows owners to interact with their vehicles on a completely new level.
