Tyres – Check they meet the legal tread depth of 1.6mm and consider switching to winter tyres when the temperature drops below 7°C.
Windscreen fluid – Keep extra winter windscreen washer fluid in the boot. Make sure it can withstand down to -20°C or lower.
Fuel – Always keep your tank half full to avoid being stranded.
Sand and shovel – A small container of sand and a shovel can help with traction on icy roads.
Snow chains – Pop them in the boot and practice fitting them in advance.
Emergency kit – Pack blankets, warm clothes, power banks, durable snacks, drinking water and spare cash.
