ŠKODA takes home three category wins: two for OCTAVIA and one for SUPERB iV
Milton Keynes, 26 November 2020 - Since its launch this summer, the all-new OCTAVIA has once again proved its place as the brand’s number one bestseller and has picked up two more titles at the Carbuyer Best Car awards. Not to be outdone by its slightly more compact sibling, the SUPERB iV has been recognised in the Best Plug-in Hybrid category.
The fourth-generation OCTAVIA offers more space and more technology than its predecessor and has beaten off the fierce competition to take home the titles of Best Family Car and Best Estate Car.
Commenting on the OCTAVIA win, Carbuyer Editor Richard Ingram, said: “The ŠKODA OCTAVIA has long been a favourite of ours and this latest version is the best yet - it’s our 2021 Best Family Car. It’s hugely spacious inside for passengers and luggage, as well as comfortable, good to drive and packed with hi-tech equipment. It’s also available with a range of efficient and quiet engines.”
The OCTAVIA also secured the Best Estate Car win, thanks to its cavernous interior and extensive engine line-up. “The ŠKODA OCTAVIA Estate is a family car that offers masses of space and class-leading technology but it doesn’t cost the earth to buy or run,” said Richard Ingram. “It feels comfortable and secure to drive and, with a huge variety of powertrains ranging from standard petrol and diesel to mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid, there’s a version for almost every budget. The excellent practicality and impressive value for money made it impossible to look past the OCTAVIA as the winner of our Best Estate Car award for 2021.”
The SUPERB iV showed the executive car’s versatility and continued excellence since its update last year, and added the title of Best Plug-in Hybrid to its trophy collection. Richard Ingram commented: “The ŠKODA SUPERB is one of our favourite cars because it offers a huge amount of space for the money and is good to drive. It’s comfortable and well-equipped too, so now that there’s a plug-in hybrid version called the iV, it’s a clear winner in our Best Plug-in Hybrid category.”
