SUVs drive ŠKODA forward in a challenging year for the UK car market

9. 1. 2019

ŠKODA has posted strong registration figures for 2018 - increasing its market share and recording a sharp increase in demand for its award-winning SUV models.

Milton Keynes 7 January 2019: In an overall new car market that fell by 6.83 per cent, ŠKODA recorded 74,724 registrations in 2018 (2017: 79,758).

The brand’s critically acclaimed KODIAQ and KAROQ SUVs enjoyed strong demand throughout 2018. With a combined registrations figure of 22,555, the KODIAQ and KAROQ accounted for 30.2 per cent of ŠKODA’s UK registrations – a sharp increase over 2017 when the figure stood at 8.5 per cent. Key to ŠKODA’s SUV expansion has been the introduction of the new KAROQ and the ongoing expansion of the seven-seater KODIAQ range. Both model ranges are set to grow again in 2019 with the arrival of the KODIAQ vRS and KAROQ SportLine and Scout models.

Once again, the OCTAVIA was the brand’s best-selling model, with 17,927 registrations recorded during the year. The FABIA recorded the second highest figure with 17,763 registrations with the KAROQ close behind with 14,541 registrations. KODIAQ registrations reached 8,014, with exceptional demand throughout the year.

2019 will see ŠKODA continue its product drive with the introduction of the new SCALA model in the summer followed soon after by the brand’s first electrified models.
