Air conditioning does a lot more than simply cool you down in summer. It also removes moisture from the air helping demist your windscreen in cold, wet weather hence improving driving visibility.
ŠKODA recommends regular use of your car's air conditioning all year round:
If so, it could be because your car’s air conditioning system needs cleaning.
Over a period of time the condensation that settles in your car’s air conditioning system mixes with dirt, dust and other airborne pollutants. If left untreated this becomes a breeding ground for micro organisms often resulting in an unpleasant odour and sometimes cold-like, or allergy-like symptoms.
The evaporator is the part of the air conditioning system which cools the air. It is constructed as a series of ‘fins’. This construction maximise the surface area in contact with the surrounding air to cool the largest amount of air at any one time for maximum efficiency. The cooling effect is developed using refrigerant and any moisture in that surrounding air will settle on the surfaces of the evaporator as condensation, just like warm, damp air settling on a cold window. When the air conditioning isn’t in use the gaps between the evaporator fins become a warm, damp environment. As any microbiologist knows, a warm damp environment is the ideal place to grow bacteria and biological cultures.
Participating ŠKODA retailers use a ŠKODA approved disinfectant treatment which gets to the root of the problem. The treatment disinfects the system and leaves your car bug free and smelling as fresh as a daisy. The treatment is quick and is available at very competitive prices.
We also recommend an air conditioning re-gas service every two years to maintain the system’s cooling performance, optimise fuel consumption, and help prevent costly repairs.
Many cleaning treatments are used for cosmetic effect. They are either simply masking agents that temporarily eliminate the smell or they are only partially effective, e.g. they penetrate only the ‘easy to reach’ areas. The ŠKODA approved treatment disinfects the system using an applicator which generates a vapour of less than 5 micron diameter droplets which are light enough to circulate through the entire air conditioning system, including those pesky evaporator fins.
The ŠKODA treatment is water based, non-toxic, non-irritating and non-flammable and when the application is complete the car is left completely dry and ready for immediate use (other treatments often require ventilation time).
Just like any other component on your car, your ŠKODA’s air conditioning needs regular maintenance. ŠKODA UK recommends an air conditioning re-gas service every two years to:
All battery producers in the UK are required to be registered with the Government as part of an EU-wide initiative to increase battery collection/recycling and completely prohibit the landfill/incineration of automotive and industrial batteries. Volkswagen Group UK Ltd is registered as a Producer of Batteries under Registration Number BPRN00504.
When an automotive (starter) battery in your vehicle reaches its end of life, it can be delivered to the facilities listed below for disposal:

Volkswagen Group UK Ltd is committed to reducing the environmental impact from waste electrical and electronic equipment.
Electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) is one of the fastest growing waste streams in Europe. Much of this waste ends up in landfill, where the harmful substances it contains can cause pollution; but it is possible to reuse and recycle electrical items rather than send them to landfill.
To ensure waste electrical products do not contribute to damaging the environment, they need to be separated out from other household waste so that they can be recycled. The WEEE regulations (introduced in July 2007) make it easier for consumers to recycle their old electrical equipment through a mixture of dedicated collection points at local civic amenity sites and new take back facilities provided by retailers.
The Volkswagen Group are committed to supporting this initiative and are pleased to offer our customers free take-back of their WEEE on a like-for-like basis when they buy a new electrical or electronic product from one of our retailers.
Volkswagen Group will ensure the waste items are taken to an approved recycling facility.
To take advantage of the free in-store takeback, customers are asked to return their WEEE item to us within 28 days of the new EEE purchase (please remember to bring the purchase receipt from your new item). Please note that electrical or electronic items that operate when integrated into a vehicle do not qualify for this scheme.
All items you purchase that are marked with the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol, are items that should be disposed of through “take back schemes” such as ours, or via the civic amenity site networks.
