What's the idea?
The Government has recently brought in a car
scrappage scheme, which offers drivers a cash incentive to scrap
their old cars and replace them with shiny new ones.
Your car will be eligible as long as you meet
the following criteria:
- Be a car or small van that does not exceed 3.5 tonnes.
- Be registered in the United Kingdom on or before 29 February
2000 (cars) or 28 February 2002 (vans).
- Have been registered to the owner for 12 continous calender
months before the order date of the new vehicle.
- Have a UK address on the registration certificate (V5C).
- Have a current MOT test certificate before the date of order
for the new vehicle (or one that has expired no earlier than 14
days before the time of order).
- Have a current tax disc before the date of order for the new
vehicle (or that has expried no earlier than 14 days before the
time of order).
- Have a current MOT test certificate before the date of order
for the new vehicle (or one that has expired no earlier than 14
days before the time of order).
- Be insured when the order for the new vehicle is placed.
Is your car old
enough?
If you replace it with a shiny new Škoda you will get a
whopping £2,500 off a brand new car. This saving includes £1,000
from the Government incentive and a whopping £1,500 happy scrapping
discount from Škoda. There are even a few models with up to £3,500
off.
Why? Because we reckon the car scrappage scheme is a great idea.
It’ll help boost the economy (hurrah!) and get greener, safer, more
economical cars on the roads (hurrah!).
