To save you digging out your registration documents, this guide is a quick way to see if your car is old enough to qualify for the scrappage scheme.
Remember, it has to be ten years old or more.
For starters, if you have a “new style” number plate, your car will be too young, as these plates were introduced late in 2001. You can easily tell a new style plate – they start with two letters, rather than a letter followed by a number.
Otherwise, if your car was registered before 29th February 2000 your car is old enough. You can tell the age from the letter at the beginning of the plate (prefix). The last prefix letter which qualifies is ‘V’.
If your car qualifies, find out how to get your extra £1,500 ‘happy scrapping’ discount, on top of the £1,000 Government incentive, when you scrap with Škoda.
Or if you already know what to do, find your nearest Škoda retailer.
