ŠKODA goes haul the way at the Tow Car Awards 2016

​ŠKODA has hitched up and driven off with yet another key industry award. The multi-award-winning Superb has been named Overall Winner at the Tow Car Awards 2016 by a panel of experts from The Camping and Caravanning Club, Practical Caravan, and What Car?

Milton Keynes, 16 June 2016: ​The ŠKODA Superb Hatch 2.0 TDI 150PS SE Business was declared best in class in the '1400-1549kg' weight class and recorded scores high enough for it to clinch the top title. As part of judging process, all 41 shortlisted cars were put through a gruelling test regime that included emergency lane changes, low speed slalom runs, incline tests and emergency brake tests.

All cars were tested solo to judge ride quality, handling and refinement, and were also assessed for running costs, value, standard safety equipment and resale value.

Commenting on the Superb’s remarkable performance, David Motton, Tow Car Editor of Practical Caravan magazine, said: “The ŠKODA Superb is spacious, great value, and brilliant to tow with. We'd happily pull a tourer or trailer from one end of the country to the other with the Superb, such is its stability, performance and comfort. A worthy overall winner for 2016.”

ŠKODA is no stranger to the Tow Car Awards. The current Octavia was named Overall Winner in 2013, and won its class (up to 1,400kg) in 2013, 2014 and 2015.

The Superb range has a braked towing capacity of up to 2,200kg and is available with a wide range of towing options and accessories. These include an integrated tow bar that can be released via a lever in the boot and folded away after use. The Superb also has one of the biggest and most practical boots in the sector, with the Hatch delivering 625 litres of space with the rear seats in position and the Estate offering 660 litres of luggage room.

ŠKODA has announced the new range line-up, specifications and RRP pricing for the facelifted FABIA. Order books for the updated supermini are open now, with first deliveries expected in September. With a new, all-petrol engine range, boosted equipment levels, new safety systems and an even sharper look, the facelifted FABIA is set to raise sector standards once again.
ŠKODA sent racing driver Sabine Schmitz into the 'Green Hell’ for a record-breaking lap in the new ŠKODA KODIAQ vRS, before the new SUV flagship is launched. In doing so, ŠKODA has demonstrated the seven-seater SUV’s extraordinary performance, and in a teaser video has revealed the preparations that went into camouflaged KODIAQ vRS’ successful record attempt on the Nürburgring’s legendary Nordschleife. The full video will be released on 14 June, and the ŠKODA KODIAQ vRS will make its official debut in October at the 2018 Paris Motor Show.
The ŠKODA Octavia has expanded its remarkable trophy haul by clinching yet another industry title. The brand's best-selling model in the UK eclipsed all its competitors to be named Auto Trader New Car of the Year 2018. And to make it a double delight for ŠKODA, the Superb was also named Auto Trader Family Car of the Year.
ŠKODA is already known for its ability to build fantastically strong, safe and reliable cars. But now, following three-years of planning, development and testing, ŠKODA has added to its award-winning range with the addition of a bullet and blast-resistant version of the SUPERB Estate. ŠKODA can look back on another record month: For the first time in its history, the Czech car manufacturer delivered more than 100,000 vehicles to customers in an April. With 107,100 vehicles, ŠKODA’s deliveries exceeded those of the same month last year by 10.1% (April 2017: 97,300 vehicles). In the world's largest sales market, China, the brand achieved an increase of 34%, and ŠKODA also achieved double digit growth in Eastern Europe and Russia. The SUV models KODIAQ (+164.4%) and KAROQ in particular made significant contributions to the success.
The ŠKODA Live Tour has racked up an impressive first year of results and the car manufacturer has announced that it will continue to explore new ways of using the technology. More than 2,000 online tours have been taken in the digital showroom, with three-quarters of users completely new customers to the brand.
