ŠKODA Gears Up For The Tour of Britain

07/09/2015
ŠKODA UK will mark its fourth successive year as the official car partner of the Tour of Britain by providing a fleet of vehicles to ensure the event’s seamless running.

Milton Keynes, 07 September 2015: The race kicks off in Wrexham on Monday, 7 September, and will finish in London six days later. Throughout that time, a fleet of 50 ŠKODAs will support the world-class riders and their teams.

As well as Octavia, Yeti and Fabia, the ŠKODA collective will include the stylish new Superb, more than a week ahead of its launch in retailers’ showrooms.

ŠKODA UK is also the exclusive sponsor of the King of the Mountain stages at Pen y Pas, Nick o Pendal and Barking Tye. At these locations, a ŠKODA team will provide free coffee and cake to spectators embracing the last of the British summer.

Andrew Cullis, Head of Marketing for ŠKODA UK, said: "ŠKODA’s ongoing partnership with the Tour of Britain is testimony to our support for cycling. The company started as a bike manufacturer 120 years ago and cycling continues to play a key part in our company today."

"We’re really excited to show off the new Superb to the country’s growing band of cycling enthusiasts. With its cavernous boot and optional internal bike rack, it’s the perfect union between two and four wheels. The gruelling course should offer the perfect chance to demonstrate the high standards to which all our vehicles are designed and engineered."

As well as its sponsorship of UK events such as the Tour of Britain, RideLondon and the Women’s Tour, ŠKODA provides backing to the sport on a global scale. This year alone, the brand has been a key funder of the Tour de France, the Giro d’Italia, Vuelta Espana and the UCI World Road Championships.

On course for a record once again: Together with its production partners worldwide ŠKODA AUTO has already produced one million vehicles this year, making it the fourth year in a row that the number of vehicles rolling off the production line has reached seven figures. Never before has this milestone been achieved as early as in October of a calendar year. The ŠKODA models OCTAVIA, FABIA and SUPERB have made the greatest contribution to this success. Additionally, the large SUV, the ŠKODA KODIAQ, promises further growth for 2017. The ŠKODA KAROQ will also provide impetus for growth. The company is currently introducing the compact SUV to the markets, thereby continuing its SUV campaign.
ŠKODA’s award-winning Kodiaq range is set to earn its badges with the arrival of a new Scout model. Priced from £32,330 and positioned between the SE L and Edition models, the Scout is the first new addition to the Kodiaq range since the seven-seater SUV arrived earlier this year.
Ordering for one of 2017’s most anticipated new arrivals – the all-new ŠKODA Karoq – opens today (Tuesday 3 October). Priced from £20,875, the all-new SUV sets new standards for value, comfort and equipment in what is one of the busiest and most competitive sectors of the new car market.
It’s been pulling buyers in since hitting UK showrooms in March, and now the new ŠKODA Kodiaq has proved itself to the be the ultimate towing companion by The Caravan and Motorhome Club. The seven-seater SUV has been named 2018 Towcar of the Year after taking victory in one of the toughest judging processes in the industry.
ŠKODA has announced prices and final specifications for its all-new Karoq model. Positioned below the large Kodiaq model in the brand’s updated SUV range, ŠKODA’s striking newcomer will cost from just £20,875 when order books open on 3 October. Generously equipped and packed with safety and comfort features, the all-new Karoq also introduces a striking look that showcases ŠKODA’s new SUV design language.

ŠKODA is encouraging the uptake of latest generation, lower-emission new cars by today launching a new scrappage scheme for Euro 1 to 4 emissions standards vehicles. Under the terms of the ŠKODA programme all qualifying vehicles will be permanently taken off the road and scrapped.
